In keeping with our focus on feeding the hungry, your Serve Ministry team is partnering with the Freestore Food Bank to bring a mobile food pantry right to our church! The morning of July 27, a 26’ refrigerated truck will arrive at MWPC filled with 10,000 pounds of food. The SEM food pantry has invited 200 families they serve to each pick up 50 pounds of food. This is in addition to food they may have already received from the food pantry – a bonus! Unlike food that is typically available through the food pantry, selections will include meats, dairy and fresh produce – items that these families rarely get to enjoy. This is a great opportunity for us to participate in a hands-on event right at our church. MWPC will cover nominal fees and provide the space and volunteers, SEM will invite the families and the Freestore will bring the food. After a two hour distribution period, we should feel very satisfied having provided a significant amount of food for 200 hungry families in our area, knowing that it was all a result of our initiative and efforts.
