See how the Garden Grows!

Much to the delight of the clients, more than 10 lbs of tomatoes were delivered to SEM this week, with more to come - green beans, summer squash, kale, cucumbers, onions, broccoli, sunflowers, and lots of tomatoes!  We've produced up to 800 lbs in past years.  Interested in helping, just stop by on  Thursday mornings at 8:00, Tuesday evenings at 6:45, or call Mary Lou H. if those times don't work for you - she's and other green thumbs are up there many other times during the week and welcome the help!

200 families recieve 10,000 pounds of food....

200 families selected 50 pounds of food apiece at the Mobile Food Pantry hosted by MWPC last week.  Freestore Foodbank drove the refrigerated truck loaded with 10,000 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food and parked it in the church parking lot.  25 volunteers helped families select food, pack it bags and boxes and carry it to cars.  Check out these photos and more at http://mwpcpictures.shutterfly.com/1105

More on the Backpack program...

This year, we have 325 backpacks to fill !!!  The fun begins Wednesday, August 10, with setup at 5:00, and filling to begin around 6:30.  The process moves pretty quickly - we should be done and cleaned up by 7:30 or so.

We also need volunteers to deliver backpacks.  This would involve taking backpacks for a specific school with you Wednesday after we fill them and arranging to drop them off at the school.  Available schools are: Ayer, Maddux, Mercer, Mt Washington (relocated to Hyde Park), Riverview East, Sands, SEM Food Pantry, Sherwood, Summit, Wilson and Batavia YWCA.  The schools are always very happy to see us!

Please let us know if you can help by contacting Jill B, or calling the church office at 231-8762
